Facilities ManagementNigel Barratt and Abby Kelly of HURST Corporate Finance advised Industrial Door Systems (IDS) and its shareholders on the buyout of the business, backed by private equity firm Rockpool Investments. The transaction was also supported by Liz Gallagher, Sarah Haley and Lianne Upton from HURST’s tax team.
Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Trafford Park, Greater Manchester, IDS is a national provider of compliance-led industrial door maintenance, repair and access solutions. The business employs almost 100 people and operates across the UK, servicing commercial, industrial and public sector customers.
IDS provides inspection, maintenance and repair services across industrial and pedestrian doors, roller shutters, gates, barriers, loading-bay equipment and fire doors. Its nationwide engineering coverage, technical expertise and longstanding customer relationships have established a strong platform for further growth.
"IDS is a longstanding client of HURST, and it has been a pleasure to support the company on this transaction. We believe Rockpool is an excellent partner for IDS, bringing the experience and backing to support the business through its next phase of growth. "We are delighted to have brought the two parties together and look forward to seeing what they achieve."

Rockpool’s investment will support an ambitious buy-and-build strategy, targeting complementary businesses across the fragmented UK access solutions market to expand IDS’s geographical coverage and service capabilities.
The existing management team, led by CEO Claire Harrison, will continue to drive the business forward, supported by incoming Chair Rob Flinn, former Chief Executive of Marlowe Fire and Security Group.
